Day 1: Arrival at Kanombe International Airport, Kigali

You will be received by a representative from Africa Nature Trekkers and one of our drivers / safari guide at Kanombe International Airport who will welcome you and drive you to your respective accommodation in Kigali for overnight.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour – Parc National De Volcanoes

After breakfast at your Hotel in the morning, you will have a short Kigali city tour and later you will drive northwards to Kinigi via Ruhengeri. En route, the journey offers you beautiful scenery of rolling hills for which the country Rwanda is well known. Overnight at Kinigi Guest House / Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge

Day 3: Gorilla Trek

After a heavy breakfast, you will be led to the ORTPN head offices for registration and briefing on the Gorilla tracking rules as early as 7.30AM. After this, you will be allocated a Gorilla tracking group. This very exciting activity will take you through the Virunga mountainous forest on its slopes. An encounter with the gorillas is the highlight of any Rwanda tour. Time taken to encounter these gentle apes ranges between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas on that particular day. During the 1 hour of interacting with the great apes, you will get to know their behavior and feeding pattern. You can take as many pictures as you so wish. The activity so tiring so you are advised to go with your packed lunch. Overnight at Kinigi Guest House / Gorilla Nest Hotel

Day 4: Golden Monkeys Trekking – Lake Kivu

In the morning you will set out for Golden Monkey trekking with in the forest. Return to the lodge for lunch and after transfer to Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, you can relax at the beach or take a swim in this fresh and bilharzia – free lake. Overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel / Paradise Malahide Hotel

Day 5: Lake Kivu Boat Ride–Butare Tour

After breakfast at the Hotel, you will take a boat trip to the coffee growing island on Lake Kivu. The cruise will reward you with a spectacular beautiful view of the Nyiragongo Volcano which last erupted in 2002. After the cruise, have a short tour around Kibuye or Gisenyi and later return back to your Hotel for dinner and overnight stay at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel or Paradise Malahide Hotel

Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will leave this area and transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park. This is a home to almost 25% of the African Primate species. Upon arrival, you will take a canopy walk with in the forest. Specifically, the canopy walk is good for birders so as to spot the several colourful bird species resident in the forest. Popular birdsightings are the RwenzoriTuracco, Black and White Casqued Hornbill and also do not miss spots of large troops of colobus monkeys. Return to the Guest House or lodge for dinner and overnight at ORTPN Gisakura Guest House / Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest

After a fully served breakfast at the lodge, you will go for the chimpanzee tracking activity within the forest. You will set out when it’s still dark like 5:00am in the morning and reach the area where the chimpanzees are found within the forest when its already day like at 6:00am. Take your time and watch the chimpanzees. Besides the Chimpanzees, you look out for other primate species like the Angola colobus monkeys, forest birds, reptiles and butterflies. Return for lunch; spend evening at leisure and overnight at ORTPNGisakura Guest House / Nyungwe Forest Lodge

Day 8: Butare– Transferto Kigali

After breakfast at the Guest house or lodge, you will drive back to Kigali. En route you will visit the Botanical Gardens and the cultural museum in Butare which was donated by the Belgium government in 1989. Continue and visit the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former Monarch in Nyanza. You will arrive late evening in Kigali and have dinner and overnight at your pre-booked accommodation either at Hotel Chezlando / Hotel des Mille Collines / Serena Hotel Kigali

Day 9: Kigali – Akagera National Park

In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Akagera National Park for a wildlife safari. The Park is one of the most complex Savannah ecosystems in Rwanda and in East Africa at large with beautiful landscapes, abundant birdlife and the big game animals. Upon arrival, you will go for a boat ride which will offer you with beautiful views of the Park’s water loving animals. Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge

Day 10: Full Day Activity in Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you will set out for a full day game viewing safari with in the Park with your packed lunch. Explore the park and search for the amazinglike Elephants, Giraffes, Warthogs,Zebras, Topis, secretive Roan Antelopes, and Buffaloes and so on. During the game drive you will not fail to spot at least 20 of theover 500 different species of birds habituated in the park.A Visit to Lake Ihema is equally a rewarding experience.Late afternoonyou will return to your lodge to spend the evening at leisure and overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Kigali for City Tour

After breakfast, you will return to Kigali for a city tour to the genocide Memorial sites, craft shops and so many other places. Relax at your Hotel and later have lunch and dinner at Serena Hotel Kigali / Hotel Chezlando / Hotel des Mille Collines

Day 12: Departure

Depending on the time of your departure flight, you will be transferred to Kanombe International Airport in time for your return home flight.
