Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport / Kampala
On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be received by a representative from Africa Nature Trekkers and one of our drivers / guides, transfer you to your booked accommodation. If you are an early arrival you will visit Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) and enjoy a close contact of caged animals to prepare for what to expect to see in the national parks. Here you can feel the breeze of the lake and see a variety of fishing birds along the lake shores. If it’s a weekend, you can enjoy a thrilling performance from local cultural groups. Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park
After an early breakfast, you will set off for Murchison Falls drive through Kampala Northwards through a series of districts. Stopover for lunch in Masindi town; this is a gate-way to Budongo Forest and Murchison Falls National Park. Watch out for the mighty tropical Budongo forest. You will visit the top of the mighty falls, a point where the water oozes through a contracted gorge forming splendid thunder and roar. You can relax as you take some photographs at the spot with a permanent rainbow. Overnight at Chobe Safari Lodge / Sambiya River Lodge / Fort Murchison Lodge
Day 3: Game Drive in Murchison Falls – Kibale Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, you will set out for a game drive into the northern sections of Murchison. Watch out for the Elephants, Buffalos, Water Bucks, Giraffes, Lions, Leopards, and other animal species plus a range of birds. After lunch, go for a two-hour boat cruise to the bottom of the gushing falls, an opportunity to spot the remarkable hippos, Nile crocodiles along the riverbanks. You will return to your lodge for overnight.
Day 4: Primate Tracking in Kibale Forest
After breakfast, enter the forest in search for chimpanzees the experience is quiet exciting and adventurous. You will be welcomed by the early morning rising sun. Expect to see several species of primates including chimpanzees, Baboons, Red Columbus Monkey, Black And White Columbus Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Red Tailed Monkey, Birds like sun birds, Turaco, pitas and other bird species, butter fly species etc. Have lunch and continue for a long drive via the Albertine Escarpment of the western Rift valley. Day 5: Nature Walk into Kibale Forest – Semiliki National Park
Today immediately after your breakfast, you will set out for early morning primate tracking companied by our guide into Kibale Forest. This activity is more rewarding if started at 6.00am. This forest has the highest concentration of primates in the whole of Africa including several Chimpanzee families. The Red Colobus Monkeys are seen swinging through the giant trees punctuated with twittering bird sounds, thousands of colorful butterflies and many reptiles as well as small insects are a sight in the park. You will head for lunch at the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre on your way to Semiliki National Park arriving late. Overnight at the Semiliki Safari Lodge
Day 6: Semiliki National Park – Queen Elizabeth Park
Have your morning breakfast and start the day with a 3 hours boat ride on the Lake Albert for some bird watching and game viewing. You will return to your lodge just in time for lunch, relax. After lunch transfer to the Queen Elizabeth National Park in the afternoon. The ride will take you through beautiful scenery of the foothills of Mount Rwenzori and amazing plantations. Arrive late evening, have dinner and spend the night at Mweya Safari Lodge
Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive
After early breakfast, go for morning game drive. This game drive will take you through the Kasenyi sector and the queens’ mile in the park and will reward you with sight of amazing wildlife including Lions, Elephants, Hyenas, Giant Forest Hogs, Bush Bucks, Warthogs, Hyenas, Civets, Aardvarks, Leopards, etc. In the afternoon after lunch you will go for a boat trip down the Kazinga Channel to see birds, hippos plus birds in addition to fishermen working. Overnight at Kyambura Game Lodge / Ihamba Lodge / Kingfisher Lodge
Day 8: Kyambura Gorge for Chimp Tracking – Transfer to Bwindi National Park
After a morning cup of coffee, you will drive to the Kyambura gorge for a forest walk to look for the habituated Chimpanzees, this time because you may not get time to return to your lodge after this tiring 3-4 hours trail. Have a lunch break after the walk, afternoon embark on a game drive journey through Maramagambo into the Ishasha Sector to view the tree climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth. Proceed through to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the action-packed gorilla trek. Overnight at the Buhoma Homestead
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, assemble at the park headquarters for briefing to begin the gorilla trek. You will be led by experienced trackers on the slopes of the volcanoes. The tuff trek can take between 1-7 hours, sometimes more, at elevations in excess of 7,500 feet and over rough terrain. But much as the trek can be physically challenging, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is energizing, and the beauty of the forest and its inhabitants are attractive. These massive primates are extremely rare, but the enthusiasm to see keep trackers going. When the gorillas are encountered, any fatigue is quickly forgotten. Visitors are strictly limited to only ONE hour with these giant primates. You will thereafter return to your lodge for lunch. If your trek was relatively short, you will have the opportunity for a guided forest walk if time allows. Overnight at the Buhoma Homestead
Day 10: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, take village walk around the gorilla park visiting the local home stead of Bakiga, local breweries, local schools, traditional healer, local crafts art shops, Batwa cultural performances. Lunch and thereafter transfer to Lake Bunyonyi via the terrain land forms as you view the beautiful dotted small islands scattered on this deepest lake. From here we continued towards the Kampala on good tarmac roads to Lake Mburo National Park arriving late. Overnight at White Horse Inn
Day 11: Lake Mburo National Park – Ssese Islands
After breakfast, you will go an escorted game drive. You may view Zebras, Impalas, Antelopes, buffalos, hippos, plus some of the 250 bird species available. You can go for an afternoon boat ride on Lake Mburo. Drive off to Ssese Islands via Bukakata. You will jump on a roll on roll ferry to the Bugala Island; this is the main island of the Ssese Islands group.
Day 12: Leisure at Ssese Islands – Kampala
After your breakfast, enjoy a full day of several leisure activities at Ssese including bird watching, village tours and nature walking. Enjoy a fresh cool breeze from Lake Victoria. Have a spiced lunch at Ssese Palm Beach Resort. In the afternoon, you will camp besides the beach shores and enjoy a fresh cool breeze from Lake Victoria. Late evening, resort returned to the resort to catch a ferry and then drive to Kampala. Overnight at Grand Imperial Hotel / Sheraton Hotel Kampala
Day 13: Kampala City Tour
After an early Breakfast, you will set out for a guided full day city tour to several places of interest including the National Theatre, historical places of worship, cultural and heritage sites, the scenic Bahai Temple, night clubs, etc. There are so many activities to enjoy while in the city. You will have lunch at any of the several world class hotels in middle of the city. Late evening, drive back to your hotel for overnight and prepare for your departure.
After your breakfast at your hotel, embark our safari vehicle and drive to Entebbe International Airport in time for your return flight back home.
